Exciting news… Spring has finally SPRUNG and we are now in Glasgow!!! I finally have some space to breathe now that I’ve unpacked the boxes and settled into our new home. I’ve started advertising my scent work classes in Glasgow and I’m incredibly excited to be starting my new adventure as a dog trainer in Glasgow. My classes start later this month at Mansewood Community Centre and I’m very much looking forward to meeting my new clients here, although I must admit I was a little sad to say goodbye to my West Lothian scent-work clients as we’d really started to get to know each other. However, I know they’re in safe hands with Aimee and Jess’ and their new scent classes at Cerberus Dog Training. In the coming months, I’ll be looking to expand my wee business and taking on more clients for one to one dog training in Glasgow and shortly I also hope to announce dates for my super exciting new puppy classes in Glasgow!!
After a short stint living in Barcelona just over a year ago, I’ve been itching to live in a city again. Whilst I love the countryside and all it has to offer, I prefer the buzz of the city. Since arriving, I haven’t had a huge amount of time to properly explore my new city yet, but it seems Glasgow is a very dog-friendly city and I've found a couple of a wee gems already.
The Stag and Thistle is a great dog friendly pub in the South Side with an excellent beer garden on busy Pollokshaws Road; it’s perfect for watching the world go by. They provide blankets if you get chilly and the staff love dogs! They have a great range of craft beers and their food is excellent pub grub. I can see myself spending a good few afternoons there this summer! It's an excellent place to stop for food and a well-deserved pint after you’ve taken the dogs for a good run around Queen’s Park - which also deserves a mention as it’s a beautiful, spacious, peaceful park with lots of little paths to explore, and plenty of opportunities to allow the dogs to have some off-leash running and sniffing time.
If you’re more into coffee, cookies and cake over pints and a decent pub meal, I can highly recommend Rude Cookies. Rude Cookies is a cute, quirky wee dog friendly local café, selling, you guessed it…. Rude cookies! They also do delicious looking cakes and a decent cuppa. I accidentally discovered they were dog friendly as I arrived there with my hands full with two dogs and a bike, clumsily trying to open the door and ask if they had any cookies suitable for congratulating some lovely friends of mine for their recent baby-making news. I didn’t think they’d be dog friendly, so I was trying to make the transaction at the door, however the lady in the shop was super accommodating, and she welcomed me in with bike and both dogs. We bought the cookies; won’t go into detail about the details on them. Let’s just say: they were rude, but a very well received, quirky and delicious gift!
Anyway, the sun is shining so I’m going to finish up here and take Maya out to practice some new scent work stuff we’ve been learning. I’m currently working my way through the School of Canine Science Scent for Six course, and it’s something I hope to bring to clients in the coming months.
